Kiwi originates from China and is cultivated mainly in China, Japan, New Zealand, USA, Italy, France, Spain and Greece. It is a perennial, deciduous, and climbing plant. 

In Greece it is cultivated in areas with favorable soil and climatic conditions such as Arta, Kavala or Larissa and in areas with arboricultural tradition such as Pieria, Imathia, Pella
